A ceremony was held on September 28 2009 to commemorate the birthday of Confucius, who was born 2,560 years ago.
Students from Guo Zi Jian Middle School attended the ceremony at a Confucius temple in Beijing.
The temple, located at Guo Zi Jian Street，East District in Beijing, was established in 1302 during the YUAN Dynasty and built in 1306.
This temple has been used to honor Confucius throughout the YUAN, MING and QING Dynasties.
Confucius is considered one of the greatest of the ancient Chinese sages.
To salute Confucius one must put his hands between chest and belly. Men put their left hand over their right hand, and Women put their right hand over their left.
More than 10 other Confucius temples across China also organized ceremonies on the 28th.
