Swan Lake is generally presented either in four Acts, four Scenes (primarily outside Russia and Eastern Europe) or three Acts, four Scenes (primarily in Russia and Eastern Europe). Some productions in the West include a prologue that shows how Princess Odette is first turned into a swan. The biggest difference in productions all over the world is in the ending, which varies from the romantic to the tragic.
