Encouraged, ordinary Chinese are revisiting Confucius's teachings and traveling to the sage's hometown of Qufu. The comeback of Confucius is potentially one of the most significant trends in Chinese politics and culture. But is it for real? Can Confucius once again shape Chinese politics and society, as he had in the past? And what would that mean for China's future? Michael Schuman is author of the new book Confucius and the World He Created. He is a Beijing-based journalist who writes about Asia and the global economy.

UCCA Gala and Benefit Auction 2015

Since 2012, the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art has hosted an annual gala to celebrate our past and upcoming exhibitions and to honor those that made them possible. Beginning with the help of one designer, our gala has continued to mature over the past three years through generous donations of artwork from several artists. Now with support from international brands Dior, PYE, Davidoff, Morgan-Stanley, Sotheby's, and Pernod-Ricard as well as twenty-two major galleries from China and abroad, the gala and its accompanying benefit auction have become the focal point of concerted efforts to create a sustainable environment for Chinese contemporary art.
