Thai king makes 1st appearance in more than a month

 Thailand's King Bhumibol Adulyadej is seen at Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok October 23, 2009. King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the world's longest reigning monarch, has been treated at Bangkok's Siriraj Hospital since September 19 for fever, lung infection and a loss of appetite. The 81-year-old king was in stable condition, the palace said on Thursday, adding it would no longer issue daily updates on his health but would make a statement if his condition deteriorates.
