Medical, science experts thanked for contributions to SARS fight
          ( 2003-08-03 11:57) (Xinhua)

The Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Chinese government will never forget the eminent contributions made by Chinese intellectuals in the nationwide anti- SARS campaign and their tremendous efforts to promote the economic development, a top official said Saturday.

Zeng Qinghong, state vice-president and a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks during a meeting with a group of medical experts and scientists in Beidaihe summer resort of north China's Hebei province.

The medical experts and scientists were invited by the CPC Central Committee and State Council to spend their summer holidays in the popular seaside resort, according to official sources. Zeng made a special trip to Beidaihe for the gathering.

During the talks, Zeng showed a high esteem and gratitude to these medical experts and scientists as well as to all intellectuals working in different fields on behalf of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council.
He expressed his deep sorrow over the martyrs who died in the battle against the epidemic.

Vice-President Zeng called on the country's intellectuals to study and implement well the important thought of "Three Represents" and to unite around the CPC Central Committee with Hu Jintao as the general secretary, to make new contributions to the endeavor to build a more well-off society and accomplish the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
