DPRK says six-party talks to start soon in Beijing
          ( 2003-08-04 16:35) (Xinhua and Agencies)

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) said on Monday that the six-party talks on settlement of the nuclear issue would soon be held in Beijing, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.

"Six-party talks on the nuclear issue between North Korea and the United States will open soon in Beijing," South Korea's Yonhap quoted a Korean-language statement issued by North Korean Foreign Ministry as saying.

"Inasmuch as the multi-party talks that the US side has long advocated will be held, whether the United States has made a change in its policy toward our country will be clearly revealed to the international community at the talks," said the spokesman.

DPRK and the United States said on Friday they had agreed to hold six-way talks on the nuclear standoff. China, Japan, Russia and South Korea will also attend the talks -- the date and venue have yet to be formally announced.
