HK-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge landing points under study
          ( 2003-08-30 07:59) (Xinhua)

The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge landing points are still being studied, Hong Kong's Secretary for Environment, Transport and Works Sarah Liao said on Friday, adding that the economic effectiveness and environmental factors of the proposed locations will be considered.

Speaking after the first meeting of the bridge's Advance Work Co-ordination Group held in Guangzhou Friday, Liao said members exchanged views and held constructive discussions.

She said the group has full confidence that research work on the project will promptly commence, and an expert group will be set up to study the project's details if necessary.

Representatives of the Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau governments attended the meeting. The Hong Kong side included Liao,Permanent Secretary for Environment, Transport and Works Rita Lau and Head of the HK-Guangdong Co-operation Co-ordination Unit KittyChoi.

Representatives of the State Development and Reform Commission and the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office also attended the meeting as liaison officers.

The co-ordination group was set up by the three governments in accordance with the State Council's approval on August 4.
