          Kim Jong IL re-elected as DPRK National Defense Commission chief

          Kim Jong Il, leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) was re-elected as Chairman of the National Defense Commission on Wednesday, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.

          Kim Jong Il was re-elected to the post at the first session of the 11th Supreme People's Assembly, the report said.

          Kim Jong Il was first elected as Chairman of the National Defense Commission at the fifth session of the 9th Supreme People' s Assembly in 1993.

          The National Defense Commission is the country's top military body.
