Official Tibet to make good use of every cent from central government
          ( 2003-09-25 15:19) (Xinhua)

Qiangba Puncog, chairman of the Tibet autonomous regional government, said in Lhasa Wednesday that Tibet "will make good use of every cent given by the central government and other provinces and municipalities."

Qiangba Puncog made the remark during his meeting with a group of Russian journalists from six media organizations.

The official noted that the autonomous regional government attached importance to the use of capital allocated by the central government and the assistance given by other provinces and municipalities as the Tibetan people knew very well that all this money was hard earned.

Since the central government has granted Tibet the maximum preferential policy and selfless assistance, the local regional government will make good use of the precious funds for the leap- frogging development of Tibet, he said.

During the Tenth Five-year Plan period (2001-2005), the central government and all other provinces and municipalities provided Tibet with more than 90 billion yuan (US$10.88 billion).
