Mainland films to offer insights into city life

          ( 2003-09-26 21:40) (Xinhua)

"Chinese Film Panorama 2003" will present 11 recent films made by the filmmakers in the Chinese mainland in Hong Kong, a government press release said Friday in Hong Kong.

The series will take place from Oct. 20 to 31 with a total of 31 screenings at the Grand Theater of the Hong Kong Cultural Center, the Lecture Hall of the Hong Kong Science Museum and the Cinema of the Hong Kong Film Archive.

Of them, three were the works by acclaimed directors Huo Jianqi, Feng Xiaogang and Zhang Yuan, which offer rare insights into Chinese city life.

The program also includes a seminar, "Interaction between Mainland and Hong Kong Cinema," on Oct. 21 at the Film Archive Cinema.

"Chinese Film Panorama 2003" is jointly presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of Hong Kong, Sil- Metropole Organization Ltd and Southern Film Co. Ltd.

The series include Huo Jianqi's latest film "Life Show," Zhang Yuan's new release, "Green Tea" and Feng Xiaogang's "A Sigh."
