Bryant, O'Neal put in light workout
          ( 2003-10-13 16:02) (Agencies)

Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal put in a light practice at Los Angeles Lakers camp Sunday.

A day earlier, both players sat out; Bryant with a sore knee and O'Neal with an aching heel.

Bryant participated in a couple of drills. He is rehabbing his knee, which was surgically repaired the day after his alleged sexual attack on a 19-year-old woman in Colorado in June.

"Shaq couldn't run too much because of his heel and Kobe played a little bit, but his leg is so weak he couldn't get his shot to the basket almost for a while," coach Phil Jackson said. "He fatigues really early in practice."

Bryant is not expected to play Tuesday when the Lakers face Phoenix in a preseason game in San Diego. He will be away from the team again Wednesday when his preliminary hearing resumes in Colorado.

A judge will decide whether there is enough probable cause to order Bryant to trial on the sexual assault charge.

Jackson said it was a long shot to think that Bryant might begin the season on injured reserve.

O'Neal injured his heel nearly two weeks ago and there is concern it hasn't cleared up. He said he practiced despite his heel not being much better.

Bryon Russell, who sprained his ankle during last week's Hawaiian portion of training camp, also practiced Sunday. Jackson said he'll probably be able to play Tuesday.
