          Tennis: Pierce, Sharapova advance at Quebec

          Top seeds Mary Pierce and Maria Sharapova advanced to the semifinals of the $170,000 Bell Challenge indoors tournament at Club Advantage Multi-Sports on Friday.

          Pierce, the No. 1 seed, defeated Lubomira Kurhajcova 6-3, 6-3 and will play Milagros Sequera in Saturday's semifinals. Sequera beat Marion Bartoli 1-6, 6-3, 6-1.

          In the other semifinal, Sharapova, who beat Alina Jidkova 6-1, 6-2, faces Laura Granville, who defeated Zheng Jie 5-7, 6-4, 7-5.
