Barcelona eased to a routine 3-0 win over Greek minnows Panionios in their UEFA Cup second round, first leg match on Thursday.

Two goals either side of halftime from Luis Garcia and Patrick Kluivert broke Greek resistance after a stubborn opening period from the hosts.

Garcia received a 44th-minute pass from the excellent Ronaldinho before cutting inside to drive home a shot that goalkeeper Jaroslav Drobny could only parry into his own net.

Garcia then turned provider after the break as Kluivert made an instant impact after replacing Saviola, scoring with his first touch.

Fellow substitute Luis Enrique forced two good saves from Drobny after replacing Ronaldinho in the 63rd minute.

The Catalans carved out several more chances to add to their lead before Xavi made it 3-0 in the 90th minute.
