          Lazio, Ajax ousted in Champions League

          Ajax Amsterdam and Lazio of Rome were eliminated from the European Champions League with losses Tuesday night.

          Spain's Celta de Vigo won 2-1 at AC Milan on goals by Jesuli Mora and Jose Ignacio Saenz as Ajax lost 2-1 at Belgium's Club Brugge.

          AC Milan (3-2-1) already had clinched a berth from Group H and Celta (2-1-3) finished second, one point ahead of Brugge (2-2-2) and two in front of Ajax.

          Sparta Prague beat visiting Lazio 1-0 on Marek Kincl's goal in second-half injury time to advance from Group G.

          Chelsea (4-1-1), which won 2-0 over Turkey's Besiktas, (2-3-1) already had clinched a berth. Sparta (2-2-2) was second, while Lazio (1-3-2) finished last.

          "I'm very angry," Lazio coach Roberto Mancini said. "It was our duty to do more."

          Manchester United (5-1), VfB Stuttgart (4-2), Real Madrid (4-0-2) and FC Porto (3-1-2) already had clinched berths. Manchester United, which rested American goalkeeper Tim Howard, won 2-0 over visiting VfB Stuttgart and Panathinaikos won 3-1 at Glasgow Rangers in Group E.

          In Group F, FC Porto tied 1-1 at Real Madrid and Olympic Marseille tied 1 at Partizan Belgrade.

          Wednesday's schedule has Anderlecht (2-2-1) at Bayern Munich (1-1-3) and Glasgow Celtic (2-2-1) at Lyon (2-2-1) in Group A, Lokomotiv Moscow (2-2-1) at Arsenal (2-2-1) and Internazionale of Milan (2-2-1) at Dynamo Kiev (2-3) in Group B, AS Monaco at AEK Athens (0-4-1) and Deportivo de La Coruna (3-1-1) at PSV Eindhoven (2-2-1) in Group C, and Olympiakos Piraeus (1-3-1) at Juventus of Turin (3-1-1) and Galatasaray (2-3) at Real Sociedad (2-1-2) in Group D.

          Juventus already has clinched a berth.

          Panathinaikos (1-4-1), Olympique Marseille (1-4-1), Bestiktas (1-3-2) and Club Brugge (2-2-2) advanced to the third round of the UEFA Cup, Europe's No. 2 tournament.
