Rockets strike Kabul as delegates meet
          ( 2003-12-22 11:15) (Agencies)

Two rockets slammed into the Afghan capital Sunday night as delegates gathered in the city for a grand council to adopt a new constitution.

There were no injuries although one of the rockets struck a house, damaging its roof and windows, about four miles from the college campus where delegates were in the eighth day of the council, or loya jirga, said Kabul deputy police chief Gen. Matyullah Rahmani.

Authorities expected militants from the former Taliban regime to try to disrupt the council, which has brought together 500 delegates to debate the constitution.

The rocket attacks were being investigated, said Lt. Col. Joerg Langer, a spokesman for the city's 5,500-strong NATO-led peacekeeping force.
