New York Fashion Week opens Friday, and Liza Minnelli, Harry Belafonte and Michelle Williams of Destiny's Child were expected to be in front-row seats at Kenneth Cole's runway show, the first presentation on the eight-day schedule.

Cole's collection for fall 2004, to be previewed at the tents in Bryant Park in midtown Manhattan, will be "a mix of urban luxury with a comfortable, tailored twist," the designer said in a statement.

More than 80 runway shows will be featured during Fashion Week, including collections by Carolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, Vera Wang, Marc Jacobs, Badgley Mischka, Diane von Furstenberg, Betsey Johnson, Anna Sui, Vivienne Tam, Monique Lhuillier, Jennifer Nicholson and Proenza Schouler.

The fall preview for retail buyers and editors will run through Feb. 13 at the fashion tents and other venues. Donna Karan's runway show is the final event on the official calendar.

Grammy winner Wyclef Jean will perform with Foxy Brown during the Feb. 12 show for couture line Fusha Designs, created by his wife, Marie Claudinette Jean; "Extra" correspondent and "The Bachelorette" runner-up Charlie Maher will be accompanied by a canine companion at Ron Chereskin's show; and Vanessa Williams will make her runway modeling debut at a heart disease-awareness charity fashion show.

Celebrities expected to attend Chereskin's show on Friday, presented with The Humane Society of New York, included Carson Kressley ("Queer Eye for the Straight Guy") and B.D. Wong ("Law & Order: Special Victims Unit").

Dogs in Chereskin's "Stars & Dogs" show will be available for adoption through The Humane Society.
