The World Health Organization will provide 70,000 doses of free flu vaccine to China in order to help those living in areas hit by bird flu outbreaks, WHO coordinator in Beijing said in Beijing.

She made the promise while meeting Chinese officials from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Agriculture on February 16 in Beijing. But the China News Service report did not say when the vaccines would be delivered.

WHO plans to organize a training course on February 19-20 in Bangkok, Thailand on laboratory diagnosis for bird flu and other communicable epidemic diseases. She said China would send to experts to the training course.

She said that human vaccine for bird flu is still in the process of research and development, and it is likely to take several months. The coordinator said the WHO will cooperate with China in the research and will organize seminars on this research.
