Pupils poisoned in chlorine gas leak in NW China

Fifteen primary school pupils in northwest China's Gansu Province, who
inhaled chlorine gas leaked from the Yanguoxia Chemical Plant Monday, have
returned home.

were hospitalized. Three students were slightly poisoned and remain in hospital
for medical observation.
The accident happened when two workers of the chemical plant opened the gas
valve in violation of rules during an annual facility check-up.
After the accident the plant took immediate rescue measures for the students,
ordered the chlorine bottle center to stop operation and is investigating the
cause of accident.
