Cleveland Cavaliers guard LeBron James and Sacramento Kings forward Chris Webber have been named the NBA Players of the Month for January.

James captured the award for the Eastern Conference with a stellar month that included averages of 26.5 points, 8.4 rebounds and 8.5 assists. He became the youngest player, at 20 years and 20 days, to record a triple-double when he posted 27 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in a 107-101 win over Portland on January 19. Just three days later he added another triple-double against Golden State.

Webber garnered Western Conference honors by averaging 22.5 points and 10.3 rebounds. He registered eight double-doubles for the month, scored at least 20 points in nine games and led the Kings to a 12-4 record for January.

Other nominees for the awards included Dallas' Dirk Nowitzki, who won it for December; San Antonio's Tim Duncan; Minnesota's Kevin Garnett; Detroit's Richard Hamilton; New Jersey's Vince Carter; and Philadelphia's Allen Iverson, among others.
