Rain threatens to wash out play at China Open

Persistent rain threatened to wash out play at the $1.1 million China Open on
Thursday.
Play was scheduled to start at 1pm (0500 GMT) but no second round matches had
been started by 5pm because of bad weather in Beijing.
Top seed Rafael Nadal of Spain was scheduled to play in the evening session
with second-seeded Argentine Guillermo Coria set to appear in Thursday's third
match on center court.
Tournament organizers said they would make a decision later in the day as to
whether any play would be possible.
