Comprehensive Strength

1) Economic Growth: Since the reform, the historic development opportunities have been seized in Changchun. The national economy of Changchun has been steadily developing in high speed and the economic development has entered the stage of increase in speed and interest at the same time. In the first half of 2004, Changchun had 69.3 billion RMB in Gross Domestic Products (GDP) in the first half of the year, an increase of 16.3% year-on-year.

The first industry realized 3.35 billion RMB in profit, 7.7% higher than the same period last year while the secondary industry realized 35.8 billion yuan in profit, 19.9% higher than the same period last year; and the tertiary industry realized 30.15 billion yuan in profit, 13.5% higher.

2)The total financial revenue in the first six months stood at 8.13 billion yuan, 18.2% higher than the same period last year.

Economic Structure

1) Industrial Structure: The strategic adjustment on economic structure has been going very well and economic quality has been increased continuously. New product growth takes 26.7% of the industrial product growth, which is 4.5% increase of the previous year. The four leading industries of automobile manufacture and parts, foodstuff, photoelectronic information, biology & medicine have grown steadily, taking 87.7% of total industrial product growth, which is 3.3% higher than the year before.

　 2) Employment Structure: The total employment of Changchun City reached 329,400 people. Among which, the first industry employed 139,500 people took 42.3% of the total; the second industry employed 70.100 people took 21.3% of the total; the third industry employed 119,800 people took 36.4% of the total. 23.100 people are engaged in the private business. The average currency income is RMB 12,869.00 yuan, increased by 16.0% compared with last year.

Pillar Industries

1) Auto Industry: In automobile manufacturing industry, Changchun will mainly develop heavy trucks, economical family cars, special vehicles, and other new products, with an annual output of one million in quantity. Thus updating the product system, class, as well as industry scale.

4) Photo-Electrical Information Technology: With the development and application of photoelectrics, microelectrics and software circuit technology as the core, Changchun will mainly develop liquid crystal display, laser equipment, and photoelectrical medical instrument, etc.

Agriculture

1) Agricultural Output Value: Situated in the golden corn production belt with fertile land, Changchun is China's major commercial grains production base. The annual output of the grains maintains at 7 billion kilograms. Changchun has three of the ten big national grains production counties. In recent years, the project construction of agricultural industrialization has developed quickly, based on the abundant resources.

Industry

1) Industrial Development: Industrial production has developed quickly, and economic profit has increased greatly. Large scale industries and enterprises have fulfilled the output of ￥120, 210 million RMB, which is 30.6% increase of the year before, ranking No.1among the 15 sub-provincial cities. All industry has increased by ￥45,030 million RMB, which is 15% increase of the year before. The comprehensive index value of industrial economic profit has steadily increased. In the year of 2002, the comprehensive index value reached 176.3%, which is 23.6% increase of the year before. The links between production and sales of industries and enterprises are better. 1) Finance & Insurance: The financial income increased rapidly and steadily. The total municipal financial income reached ￥11,020 million RMB, which is 13.1 % increase of the year before. Local financial income reached ￥3,780 million RMB, which is 14.7 % increase of last year. Commercial revenue reached ￥2,180 million RMB, which is 18 % increase of last year.

The financial spending structure was more reasonable, which assists development of all causes. Local financial spending accomplished The year end saving balance from all financial organizations was ￥7,010 million RMB, which is 18.8 % increase of the beginning of the year. The loan balance from all financial organizations was ￥140,360 million RMB, which is 21.2% increase of the beginning of the year.

The accumulated cash income from all financial organizations was ￥149,250 million RMB, which is 9.5% increase of the year before. The accumulated cash spending from all financial organizations was ￥347,610 million RMB, which is 13.9% increase of the year before. The net currencies returns was ￥-6.590 million RMB. The total expenditure is 341,020 million, which is 12.9% higher than last year. The stock market has developed rather quickly. By the end of 2002 the number of stock exchange agencies had reached 3, and stock exchange network centers 36, listed companies.
