Former Hong Kong Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa stands up as delegates applaud after he was elected vice-chairman to China's top advisory body during the closing of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference in Beijing March 12, 2005. Tung, 67, announced in Hong Kong Thursday that he had officially submitted to the central government his request for resignation from the post as chief executive of the HKSAR for health reasons.
