Ethics & chickens

Actually, recent research has shown that sensible cage husbandry is not as harmful to chickens as previously thought. Under hygienic circumstances less medication than in other husbandry methods is needed & using the right size other problems (as pecking each other) can be avoided.
Free range chicken husbandry (FRCH) could actually be one reason why the bird flu spread so fast. Anyway, the number of eggs & amount of chicken meat needed in modern society is hardly available if only FRCH is used. To make chickens & eggs available at a reasonable price, chickens would be so packed in FRCH that diseases would spread much easier than in modern cage husbandry.

Bad habits? Depending on the arrangements (IE number of animals, living conditions etc.) it is absolutely OK.

Ethics are relative. It may be disgusting to you, but in my eyes it's OK when people can see where their meat comes from.
My major critics here would be that it is not really hygienic.
I agree that China (& a lot of other countries) needs some reforms regarding hygienic standards in animal husbandry, but you want too much, I think.
