Kekexili--Kekexili

"Kekexili" is one of the few films in recent years that really shocked people. Director Lu Chuan, a leader of new generation in Chinese film circles, proved his strength with cinematic language.

The film was shot in unpopulated Kekexili, where a relentless, harsh mountainous plateau in China's west is found. The vast, chilly area is called the Forbidden Zone for human beings. The primitive natural environment and the frail grasslands there have been a kingdom for many rare wild animals on the plateau. The most spectacular scenes are of snow-covered mountains, glaciers, lakes, volcanic lava and simmering hot springs .
