1. Plainclothes

指的是便衣（不穿制服的）警察。"便衣"除了plainclothes，還可以用undercover 來(lái)形容，例如：undercover policeman（便衣警察），undercover FBI agent（聯(lián)邦調(diào)查局密探），undercover security guard （便衣保安）等等。

警察正式的名稱是 police (集合名詞，只能當(dāng)復(fù)數(shù)用，不能指?jìng)€(gè)人)，或是 policeman (指?jìng)€(gè)人)。而警官則是 police officer。就像在中文里我們常常戲稱警察為"條子"一樣，在美國(guó)老美也戲稱警察是 cop。這個(gè)用法由來(lái)是以前警察都穿那種有銅扣 (copper) 的大衣，所以就被昵稱為 copper。后來(lái)日子久了就變成了 cop。 這個(gè)詞原來(lái)是有一點(diǎn)歧視的味道，不過(guò)時(shí)間久了，連警察們自己都互稱是 cop，所以就變成一個(gè)中性的字眼了。

2. Catch up with

這里的catch up with 可不是"逮捕、處罰"的意思，而是"趕上"，在這個(gè)片段可以理解為"過(guò)去找你們"。我們來(lái)看個(gè)例子：You run so fast it's hard to catch up with you.

3. School's out.
