RED (V.O.) I tell you, those voices soared. Higher and farther than anybody in a gray place dares to dream. It was like some beautiful bird flapped into our drab little cage and made those walls dissolve away...and for the briefest of moments - every last man at Shawshank felt free.

RED (V.O.) Itpissed the warden offsomething awful.

WARDEN: Open the door. Open it up! Dufrense, open this door! Turn that off! I am warning you, Dufrense, turn that off!

HADLEY: Dufrense, you are mine now.

RED (V.O.) Andy got two weeks in the hole for that little stunt.

HADLEY: On your feet.

CON: Hey, look who's here.

CON: Maestro.

HEYWOOD: You, you couldn't play somethin' good, huh? Like Hank Williams?

ANDY: They broke the door down before I could take requests.

FLOYD: Was it worth two weeks in the hole?

ANDY: Easiest time I ever did.

HEYWOOD: Oh, shit. No such thing as easy time in the hole. A week in the hole is like a year.

SNOOZE: Damnstraight.

ANDY: I had Mr. Mozart tokeep me company.

RED: So they let you tote that record player down there, huh?

ANDY: It was in here...in here. That's the beauty of music. They can't get that from you. Haven't you ever felt that way about music?

RED: Well I played a mean harmonica as a younger man. Lost my interest in it, though. Didn'tmake much sensein here.

ANDY: Here's where it makes most sense. You need it so you don't forget.

RED: Forget?

ANDY: Forget that there are places in the world that aren't made out of stone, that there's… there's something inside that they can't get to and they can't touch. That's yours.

RED: What are you talking about?

ANDY: Hope.

RED: Hope. Let me tell you something, my friend. Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a man insane. It's got no use on the inside. You'd better get used to the idea.

妙詞佳句，活學活用

1. Some things are best left unsaid.

這句話的意思很好理解，就是“無法用語言描述或表達”，我們在日常交流中經(jīng)常會在描述一種感覺的時候說“只可意會，不可言傳”，其對應的英語就是這個句子。記住嘍，下次就可以套用了！

2. piss off

這是一個在影視劇中經(jīng)常聽到的詞組，可見它在口語里使用的頻率極高。piss一詞本來是“小便”的意思，但是當別人說piss sb off的時候，我們大致也能猜到肯定不是好話，它的意思是“使人生氣，使人厭煩”。

e.g. You've tried to piss me off starting from this morning!
     從早上開始就一直在惹我生氣！

3. straight

這是我們都很熟悉的單詞，但是在這里我們要講的不是大家都熟悉的意思。在影片的這個部分里，straight的意思是“對的；正確的”，相當于right，correct。

e.g. Make sure the data is straight in the report.
     保證報告里的數(shù)據(jù)正確。

4. keep sb company

“陪伴某人”的意思，還有一種表達是bear sb company。這里company的意思是“陪伴”，此外還有一種類似的意思“伴侶，同伴”。在英語中牽扯到company的這個意思的常用諺語有兩句：
1）Two's company, three's a crowd. 兩人成伴，三人不歡。
2）A man is known by the company he keeps. 從其交友知其為人。/ 近朱者赤，近墨者黑。

5. make sense

常用詞組，常用意義為：

1）有明確意義
e.g. No matter how I tried to read the sentence, it didn't make any sense to me.
不管我怎么念，還是不懂這個句子的意思。

2）有道理，合乎情理，明智
e.g. It makes sense to take care of your health.
注意健康是明智的。

在make和sense 之間加上不同的表示程度的詞，它的意思也會有變化，如：make a lot of sense，make some sense，make no sense就分別表示“很有道理”，“有一定道理”，“沒有道理”。
