Ask men to name their 10 most stylish peers of the past 50 years and it's unlikely handsome movie stars favored by women like Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise will show up.
But Sean Connery? He gets major points because when it comes to style, men judge success, confidence, maturity and class more than good looks, according to GQ Magazine.
The magazine has come up with a list of the top 10 most stylish men of the past 50 years, which features former boxer Muhammad Ali, actor Jack Nicholson, basketball player Michael Jordan and President John F. Kennedy.
The others to make the list are actors Connery, Paul Newman, Robert Redford, Johnny Depp and Al Pacino, as well as quarterback of the New England Patriots Tom Brady.
Three-time Super Bowl champ Brady, at age 30, is the youngest. Jordan and Depp are in their 40s, and the rest - excluding Kennedy, of course - are all over 60 years-old.
"This is the list of men that men would like to be. You have to be more than just a handsome face," said the magazine's style editor Adam Rapoport.
"Style goes beyond clothes. It is about how you carry yourself - and there has to be some weight to the guy, some integrity, some gravitas. Everyone in this list had to have a genuine sense of personal style."
GQ editors chose the 50 most stylish men from five decades of cover subjects for a special 50th anniversary issue of the magazine.
The list, which included actors, politicians, musicians and sportsmen, was then narrowed to the top 10, which appears in the issue on newsstands this week.
The editors did not rank the top 10 although Rapoport said many people would argue Sean Connery should be No. 1.
"Sean Connery as James Bond is the ultimate man's character---dashing, witty, handsome, well-dressed with the fast car," said Rapoport.

那么肖恩?康納利呢？據(jù)《GQ雜志》介紹，他可是深受男性青睞，因?yàn)槟行缘脑u(píng)判標(biāo)準(zhǔn)主要是成功、信心、成熟感以及品位，而不是外表。
該雜志編撰了一份過(guò)去50年“十大最時(shí)尚男性排行榜”，前拳擊手默罕默德?阿里、演員杰克?尼科爾森、籃球運(yùn)動(dòng)員邁克爾?喬丹以及美國(guó)前總統(tǒng)約翰?F?肯尼迪均榜上有名。
其余入選的男性包括演員康納利、保羅?紐曼、羅伯特?里德福特、強(qiáng)尼?戴普、埃爾?帕希諾以及新英格蘭愛(ài)國(guó)者（橄欖球）隊(duì)的四分衛(wèi)湯姆?布拉迪。
三次榮獲“超級(jí)碗”冠軍的布拉迪只有30歲，是其中最年輕的男性；喬丹和戴普40多歲；其余的都是60多歲，當(dāng)然肯尼迪不算在內(nèi)。
該雜志的時(shí)尚版編輯亞當(dāng)?拉波波特說(shuō)：“這一排行榜揭示了男人心目中的男性偶像。有一張帥氣的臉蛋是遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)不夠的。”
“時(shí)尚遠(yuǎn)不只是穿著這么簡(jiǎn)單。時(shí)尚是一種表達(dá)方式——對(duì)于男人來(lái)說(shuō)，必須有一些實(shí)質(zhì)的、內(nèi)在的、有分量的東西。入選該排行榜的人都要有一種真正的個(gè)人時(shí)尚感。”
為了籌備《GQ雜志》的50周年特刊，雜志的編輯們從過(guò)去50年的封面主題人物中挑選了50位時(shí)尚男性。
之后，該份包括演員、政治人物、音樂(lè)家和運(yùn)動(dòng)員的排行榜被縮減至10人。該特刊將于本周上架。
據(jù)拉波波特介紹，編輯并沒(méi)有對(duì)10位入選男性進(jìn)行排名，但很多人會(huì)認(rèn)為肖恩?康納利應(yīng)排在首位。
拉波波特說(shuō)：“肖恩?康納利所飾演的‘007’（詹姆斯?邦德）展示了‘極品男人’的形象——勇敢、機(jī)智、帥氣、穿著考究，駕著汽車(chē)飛馳。”
