Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham is to launch her own jeans firm after the success of her VB denim range for Rock and Republic.

The pop star-turned-fashion designer has ended her contract with the Californian label to launch a new range of jeans under the VDB label, set up by the singer and her soccer star husband David.

A source says, "Rock and Republic gave Victoria her big break in the fashion business. They were the financial safety net when she launched the range. But Victoria's jeans are hugely popular. So now she's decided to get rid of the middle man.

A spokeswoman for the brand in Los Angeles confirms the split: "It is true that Rock and Republic are no longer with Victoria Beckham. We stopped working with her in September."
