Picturesque Huizhou, a large-scale song and dance drama, has won praise from audiences both in China and abroad for its magnificent momentum and amazing scenes.

Opened in Sept 2009, the drama has become a landmark culture performance of Huangshan. It has won many prizes including the National Key Tourism Performance prize.

Composed of five characters, the drama vividly demonstrates the breathtaking scenery of Huangshan in different seasons, as well as the essence of Hui culture.

In ancient Huangshan, or Huizhou, adult men often left home to study or do business while their wives stayed home. The wives turned to throwing copper coins to release their loneliness. It was the men's diligence and the women’s sacrifice that made Hui businessmen prosperous for nearly 400 years.

In addition, the drama brings back the romantic Chinese fairy tale of the cowherd and the weaver girl through gorgeous lighting choreography and advanced stage technology.

The performance merges together various artistic forms such as acrobatics, Hui opera and Flower-Drum Lanterns performance, creating a visual feast that every tourist should not miss.
