The Hefei Fitness Council announced at its year-end work meeting that the city will add a bowling alley to its new sports hall.

“We are preparing to build facilities in Hefei Sports School on Pi River Road of Shushan district. They will include table tennis, badminton and bowling facilities,” said Li Shu, chief director of the Hefei municipal sports bureau. The project is currently being submitted to the Hefei municipal development and reform commission and the bureau of finance for approval. The national fitness center of the amateur sports school in Yaohai district of Hefei has also been listed as a major construction project for the city. Feixi county also plans to build public stadiums.

There will be at least four kinds of high level sports events in Hefei next year. “The New Year's fitness walk and cross-country race will be held as usual. Traditional activities include morning and evening exercises, a sports competition and a climbing competition,” said a staff member from the Hefei municipal sports bureau. The 29th session of the national speed skating championship, the 2014 China-Japan-South Korea chess invitational tournament, the Chaohu bicycle race, the Chaohu marathon and other high-level sports events will also be held in Hefei.

'Hefei will work to construct 100 national fitness courts and 10 cage-type multifunctional body-building fields. It will further enhance public sports facilities and the hours of operation for school sports facilities," said Li Shu. Luyang district plans to open three to five municipal school sports facilities next year. Eight to 10 district school sports facilities will also be opened to the public.
