The eye-catching "Hefei South high-speed railway station" name board was recently unveiled, with the words "He Fei Nan Zhan" in red.

Each character is up to 5.3 meters in width, and 7.8 meters in height.

The Hefei South high-speed railway station in Anhui province, dubbed Hefei's "transportation hub," is expected to open for use during this year's National Day holiday.

Once in use, 90 percent of G and D trains at Hefei railway station will move operations to Hefei South, according to the Anhui Municipal Development and Reform Department.

The station is a five-story structure that allows people to achieve "instant transfer" between high-speed rail, subway, bus, taxi and other transportation methods. Railway construction focuses on Hefei in order to expand external traffic.

The Anhui section of the Hefei high-speed railway will be completed this year and is expected to open to traffic in the first half of next year. By then, travel from Hefei to Fuzhou will require only 4 hours.

As a station looking for future, Hefei South high-speed railway station construction followed the energy-efficient and environmental principle by using advanced technology. The central waiting hall's ceiling is hollow for installing skylights later so the temperature and light can be adjusted naturally.

In addition, in order to facilitate passengers, it's planned to install over one hundred escalators and elevators in the station. Currently, several escalators in the waiting hall have been installed.

For now, the station's main steel structure has been completed and has entered the decoration stage.
