On May 9, a "Taiping Lake" cruise sailing ceremony was held at Sun Moon Lake, Taiwan. Zhang Baoshun, Anhui provincial Party Secretary and Chen Zhiqing, head of Nantou county Magistrates jointly pressed the crystal ball start button.

Tang Chengpei, General Secretary of Anhui's CPC Committee; Hua Jianhui, Deputy Governor of Anhui; Cheng Jinzhong, Director of the Department of Exchange, Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council; Zhu Dexiang, Director of Anhui's Taiwan Affairs Office; Zhang Shaochun, Director of Anhui Development and Reform Commission; Cao Yong, Director of Anhui's Commerce Department; Yuan Hua, Director of Anhui Culture Department; Zhang Xueping, Inspector of Anhui Tourism Bureau; inspector Zhang Xueping; Li Jitian, chairman of Taiwan Tourism Industry Alliance Association; and related industry representatives in Taiwan attended the ceremony.

The "Taiping Lake" cruise was an important milestone of Anhui's economic and cultural exchange group’s visit to Taiwan.

In April 2011, during a previous visit to Taiwan, the two sides signed the "Huangshan Taiping Lake and Nantou Sun Moon Lake exchanges and cooperation memorandum" which established the two lakes as "sister lakes". According to the memorandum, the two sides agreed to build a cruise named after the counterpart's lake.

In September 2013, Taiping Lake's "Sun Moon Lake" cruise set sail.

Zhang Baoshun delivered a speech on the sailing ceremony. He said that three years ago, Taiping Lake and Sun Moon Lake formed a "sister lake" tie. From then on, the friendship between the two places has been enriched and tourism between the two places had been expanded. Anhui pledged to continue to strengthen tourism cooperation, and welcome more Taiwanese tourists to visit Anhui.

Chen Zhiqing shared his experience of participating at the "Sun Moon Lake" cruise sailing ceremony in Taiping Lake, Anhui last September. He confirmed that since the two sides signed the cooperation agreement, Anhui and Nantou County Tourism have developed rapidly. He also wished the best for the future of cross-strait tourism.

After the ceremony, "Taiping Lake" set sail on Sun Moon Lake. Anhui economic and cultural exchange group members were invited on board to explore its beauty.
