Plans released for IP education in schools
The State Intellectual Property Office and the Ministry of Education recently unveiled plans for the IP education of primary and middle school students. The aim is that by developing a number of pilot schools for IP education, students will gain innovation and IP awareness at an early age, and influence their families and the rest of society. By 2020, 100 such schools with well-established IP education systems are planned.

Team develops aviation fuel using castor oil
A research team at Nankai University recently announced it has developed aviation fuel by hydroprocessing castor oil. Li Wei, head of the team, said the core was to find proper catalysts. He said using caster oil could solve the two biggest problems in developing bio-aviation fuel, those of high production costs and limited raw materials. The team has filed invention patent applications for the method and catalysts.

WIPO, Shanghai office hold service training program
The China office of the World Intellectual Property Organization and Shanghai IP office launched a training program last week involving more than 100 IP managers from Shanghai and nearby regions. The program focused on IP service systems in the frameworks of international protocols, such as the Patent Cooperation Treaty, the Madrid system for trademarks and the Hague Agreement for industrial designs.

Forum held in Shuzhou development zone
An IP forum was held at the Shuzhou high-tech industrial development zone on Saturday, attracting about 200 experts, officials and representatives from companies and IP service agencies nationwide. Focusing on the Made in China 2025 strategy, the participants discussed topics including IP law enforcement, reform and service development under the national strategy. The high-tech zone is home to nearly 70 IP agencies and local companies filed more than 10,000 patent applications during the first nine months of this year.

Police solve online game infringement case
The Yinchuan police have solved China's first criminal case involving online game copyright infringement to be filed with them. It was also the first case handled by the Yinchuan police's recently established IP crime detachment. They received a complaint from Shanghai Shanda Networking Group last month that a Guangdong-based company had copied one of its games, using a similar name, characters and scenarios. The server of Shanda's game is in Yinchuan. The suspects from the Guangdong company are now in criminal detention.

Copyright center established in Yuexiu district
The Copyright Protection Center of China established an office in Guangzhou's Yuexiu district on Sunday, as its first division in South China. Its services include copyright registration, transfers, pledges and licensing. On the same day, the National Copyright Trade Center's Yuexiu office was launched, with its business covering literature, photography, music, video, performances, design and software. The two offices aim to improve local copyright service and protection, and promote exchanges and trade.

83 projects displayed at Shenzhen high-tech fair
The Guangdong delegation is showing 83 projects at the 2015 China Hi-Tech Fair in Shenzhen, taking up 800 square meters of exhibition area, the largest among the delegations of all domestic provinces and regions at the fair. Seventy of the projects have been granted patents. The annual event, lasting from Nov 16 through 21, aims to promote innovation and facilitate international exchanges and cooperation.
