It has been four years since the issuing of a medical reform program by Central Government in 2009, and China's medical treatment and public health development and reform has, generally speaking, made great progress. For instance, public health has been consistently strengthened, the construction of a medical guarantee system has made quick progress, three kinds of medical guarantee system have been achieved, covering all urban and suburban citizens in the country, the fundamental service system of construction has also been undergoing stable development, and the construction of a basic pharmaceutical system has become reality.

17 cities around the country have been made pilot cities for a reform of public hospitals, and this reform has encompassed many different fields.
