Abstract: Hydrogen energy is a kind of typical clean energy with a broad application market. The development of hydrogen energy industry is related to China’s strategies of addressing climate change, green development and innovation-driven development. China has, over the past few years, laid a foundation in technology research and development, industrial development and institutional construction for hydrogen energy advancement, and some local governments have gained relevant experience in the development of hydrogen energy industry. However, the development of hydrogen energy industry still faces some problems to be resolved such as sluggish planning arrangements, incomplete standard system, improper regulatory system, weak supporting policy system, and some choking points relating to major technologies. Therefore, it is necessary to develop hydrogen energy industry as an important pathway to achieve goals of carbon emission peaking and carbon neutrality, accelerate the formulation and continuous optimization of development plans, carry out research on major technologies of hydrogen energy, coordinately promote hydrogen infrastructure construction, build a policy support system to promote the development of hydrogen energy industry, and continuously improve regulatory system for the development of the industry.
