A court in Nanping city, Fujian province held a trial of former vice mayor of Fuzhou Shi Xiaoyu on Nov 20 and 21.

Shi faced multiple bribery charges which claimed he facilitated illegal benefits for others in land sales and the approvial of commercial real estate projects when he held the posts of vice mayor in both Putian city and Fuzhou city from 2005 to 2010.

The prosecutor said Shi accepted 2.3 million yuan and 300,000 HK dollars in bribery, but this was denied by the defendant.

The Nanping Intermediate People's Court will announce the verdict at a date to be decided.
