The crew spent their first day of filming in Pingtan, on March 6, visiting famous local landmarks including Haixia Bridge, the bridge connecting the island city with the rest of Fujian, Taiwan Innovation Park and the creative hub Beigang village in Liushui township.

The team also interviewed several young people from Taiwan who are working in Pingtan, such as Meng Sianting, general director of the Fujian Cross-Straits Jinqiao Human Resources Co.

Meng's company was one of the first businesses to settle in the Taiwan Innovation Park on its opening day, and since then the company has organized several trips for young people from Taiwan to visit Pingtan and helped more than 2,000 Taiwan residents go through occupational skill appraisals on the mainland.

The CTV crew was also impressed by the well-preserved, distinctive local houses in Beigang village, which have stood since the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).

"The stone houses have prominent local features," commented Su Zhizong after the tour of Beigang village. "Distributed in an irregular way, they just embody the local life in the past."

Another highlight of the team's visit to Beigang was witnessing a performance of "Singing Stones", a unique local performance in which musicians create melodies by hitting an assortment of igneous rocks collected from Junshan Mountain, near the village.

Over the next few days, the crew shall continue their exploration of Pingtan by visiting local natural wonders including Tannan Bay, Shipaiyang and East China Sea Wonderland.
