A mental health guidance center for primary and middle school students was established in Pingtan county on March 10.

The institution, situated at Chengguan Middle School, will be responsible for psychological health promotion efforts, including organization and coordination of mental health-related activities and supervision of implementation of school work.

Besides offering students psychological counseling, the center will also provide guidance and training to teachers in Pingtan in a bid to improve their teaching methods, said Zhang Shushan, deputy director of the center, who is also a national secondary psychological counselor.

Zhang also revealed that the center will set up a volunteer team, open psychological counseling hotlines and mailboxes, and host related lectures in an attempt to create a lighter, happier, interactive environment for all students.
