A 16-member team is going from house to house in Pingtan county to repair home appliances for local residents.

The special group was jointly set up by eight construction material companies in Pingtan to help local people from March 5 to 31.

March is set aside for China's "Lei Feng Voluntary Service Month" to pay tribute to Lei Feng, a Mao-era soldier who represents selfless giving, modesty, dedication and other good qualities.

During the 27 days, the team will provide appliance maintenance in local communities, especially in older buildings. The work hours are from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

The comprehensive service package includes repairing of furniture, lamps, floors, network and home appliance. The workers also help people paint walls and wash air conditioners for free.
