The Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, Fujian province has put approximately 40 million yuan ($6 million) in its tourism promotion this year, according to local tourism development bureau on April 15.

It has sought cooperation from various leading media at home and abroad such as people.cn, Taiwan's Eastern Television, Twitter, Facebook and Youtube. Users of these media platforms will be able to see advertisements of Pingtan tourism.

In addition, to introduce its tourism to more people, the zone has also bid for the advertising space of Fujian's high-speed railway stations and airports.

Xue Liqi, office director of the tourism development bureau, said that the emphasis on tourism promotion helps increase Pingtan's national exposure and contributes to its goal of becoming a global tourist destination.

And local authorities will invest more in tourism promotion if need be, added Xue.
