Hedong Park is situated at Liuzhou Hedong New District, facing Liujiang River in the west and Wenchang Road in the south,at its east stands the planned convention center.
The park covers an area of 120,000 square meters, including green area of 41,260 square meters and water area of 34,458 square meters. The park is full-featured with rich sceneries, where the main musical fountain around the artificial lake can send up a jet of water up to 80 meters.
The park is built according to the "five elements" as the core concept. "Metal" represents metallurgy, showing the special status of the metallurgical industry and manufacture industry in Liuzhou. "Wood" represents kapok tree, a local and most-used species. "Fire" means urban construction, reflecting the developed traffic and prosperous city look. "Earth" stands for Zhuang brocade, with a touch of national characteristics, setting up in the square center. "Water" resembles Liujiang River, demonstrating the city scene as "embraced by the green hills and surrounded by green water". The rounding water arranged in the square center symbolizes the idea of “one thinks of its source when one drinks water.”
As of landscape structure, the park consists of two axes - a north-south central axis representing the "axis of the city" in the deployment of Hedong New District Development; and an east-west axis, the "the axis of the history" depicting the city’s rapid transformation from an old town into a new center area. A public square is set at the junction of the two axes highlighting the central position of the park.
