Hechi stretches across south subtropical and mid-subtropical areas and has an abundance of light, heat, water and other climate and agricultural resources and a superb ecology.

It is home to 1,850 plant species, including 250 forest plants and 143 evergreen species and 98 deciduous species, with 60 of them rare species under state protection.

It has 162 medicinal plants, 16 oil plants, 20 foraging plants, 240 herbs and 14 fiber plants. There are more than 60 animal species in the city, more than 40 of them under state protection, and 16 economic animals domesticated.
