Tens of thousands of people from different ethnic groups gathered in Zhucheng Square in Guiyang to celebrate the New Year on the evening of Dec 31, China Daily reported from Guizhou.

The gala consisted of five parts – Guiyang Melody, Happy Songs, New Year’s Wish, New Year’s Speech and New Year's Bliss – and showed the local style and features of Guiyang through dance and song. It also expressed best wishes for the New Year.

Li Jun, the secretary of the Guiyang Municipal Party Committee, delivered a New Year's speech to all the guests.

The gala, performed by the local people, attracted a large audience.

Fireworks accompanied by different music genres were also presented at the gala.
