A signing activity for the reconstruction of a shanty town around a power station and old city in Guiyang officially begins on August 4. People who sign the contract and move before the deadline of September 17 can receive reward money totaling no more than 50,000 yuan ($8,170).

The land around the Guiyang power station enjoys great advantages in location and resources. In order to solve the problem of poor infrastructure facilities and simple business types, the government of Guiyang has invested 3 billion yuan ($490.3 million) to build a new integrative service section including business, living and public facilities.

The official in charge of this project said that the housing expropriation work has been completed and the government shall apply to court for enforcement regarding those who refuse to move out after the prescribed period of relocation.
