Anshun is 90 kilometers from the provincial capital of Guiyang and the first area in Guizhou to be developed.

The railway, aviation, highway, and waterway system is coordinated and is a crucial transport junction for Guizhou.

◆Legacy

Anshun sits at the intersection of three major migrations routes starting in the Han Dynasty (206 BC – AD 220), so it has a long history and more than 100 cultural relic sites at national, provincial, municipal and county level.

Anshun is upgrading its industrial structure, developing its pillar industries, and extending its industrial chain to develop mining, electro-mechanical, planting, breeding, transportation, packaging, and printing industries to build its aircraft, energy, automobile, pharmaceutical, chemical, metallurgy and food industries.

◇Tourism.

Beautiful landscapes put Anshun among the national Class A tourism sites. It has many scenic spots, including two national AAAAA tourist spots, one national AAAA tourist spot, and 28 key cultural relics sites under national and provincial protection. Its scenic resources cover 12 percent of the city. The city is one of China's six golden tourism routes and a tourist center.

◇Minerals.

Anshun has rich deposits of coal, lead, zinc, alumyte, antimony, gold, barites, fluorite, plaster, silica, calcite, dolomite for refining magnesium and limestone for whitewashing and cement-making.

◇Biology

The city has a range of altitudes and a climate that is conducive to the growth of plants and animals, so it is a major producer of medicinal materials, high quality rice, rapeseed, tea, ginger, tung oil, flue-cured tobacco, vegetables, fruits, domestic animals, and fowl, and a production and processing base for traditional Chinese herbal medicines.

◇Climate.

Anshun ranges from 560 meters to 1,500 meters in elevation and has a typical humid subtropical monsoon climate with abundant rainfall. Average annual rainfall amounts to 1,360 mm. It is cool in the summer and warm in the winter, with an annual average temperate of 14 C and a comfortable climate for as long as eight months.

◇Water

The city sits in the watershed between the Yangtze River's Wujiang drainage system and the Pearl River's Beipanjiang drainage system, and has numerous rivers with many falls and hydropower resources. Its potential hydropower resources stand at 4.51 million kW with 2.96 million kW exploitable.

◆Investment sites

◇Liyang New and High-tech Industrial Park

The park was established in April 2001 with Guizhou government approval and is subject to provincial preferential development zone policies. It has a planned area of 28.3 square km on level ground with convenient transportation. It also contains the Xiayun Industrial Park, with living quarters, and business and tourism areas.

◇Xixiu Industrial Park

This provincial economic and technological development park got approval in 2006, from the National Development and Reform Commission. It has geographical advantages and convenient transportation featuring highways, railways and aviation services. It covers emerging industries such as aluminum, food, and pharmaceuticals, and focuses on biological pharmaceuticals, green food, tourism commodities, aluminum product processing, and new and high-tech products.

◇Circular Economy Industrial Park

The park is in Puding county near Anshun and covers an area of 28 sq km and has a circular economy in the chemical, metallurgy, raw materials, aluminum, magnesium, and aluminum alloy industries.

◇Aviation Industrial Park, Anshun Economic and Technological Development Zone

This zone has backing from the provincial government and China's Aviation Industry Corp and is part of the Anshun Economic and Technological Development Zone in central Guizhou. It handles equipment manufacturing for aircraft and aviation, automobiles, and auto parts especially sedans, mini-cars, buses and special vehicles, and is involved in bearing production and casting.
