The Tree Worship Festival occurs on the third day of the first lunar month every year. Before the festival, six families in the village collect money from every family to buy sacrificial offerings. During the festival, people will set up a wooden hut with branches under a big sacred tree. The hut will be decorated with colorful triangle flags, and people will lead a chicken, pig and sheep to walk around the tree three times before butchering them for sacrifice to pray for a good harvest.

This festival is of great importance in preserving ancient trees for Gelao village.
