Ruzhou, a city in western Henan province, was cited as a provincial distinguished science popularization demonstration city and rewarded 100,000 yuan ($16,300). The Mangchuan Banxi Persimmon Products Association in Ruzhou was awarded as a distinguished rural professional technology association.

Xiyuan Ecological Agriculture Science Popularization Demonstration Base was announced as a candidate for national rural science popularization projects.

By extending the influence of the science popularization demonstration county (city or district), distinguished rural professional technology association and distinguished rural science popularization demonstration base, Ruzhou continues to expand farmer interest in science and their ability to obtain wealth by scientific and technological way.

Ruzhou's 20 townships (towns and residential districts), actually all its townships, are science popularization demonstration townships which including  Henan provincial science popularization demonstration townships and four Pingdingshan municipal science popularization demonstration townships. Henan province has cited six residential districts in Ruzhou as provincial science popularization distinguished units.

Ruzhou attaches much importance in the development of rural professional technology associations and rural science popularization demonstration bases. Up to now, Ruzhou has 55 rural professional technology associations with a membership of over 23,800. An amount of 50,000 farmers are influenced by 72 rural science popularization demonstration bases.

There are three association and three bases in Ruzhou received their awards in national level and provincial level respectively for their outstanding achievements in science popularization. Meanwhile, three rural science popularization leaders have been cited as national distinguished individuals and another one was awarded as provincial distinguished individual.

It was known that a total of 10 counties (cities or districts) were commended including Qi county, Huixian city, Qingfeng county and Gushou county.
