On August 22 Huaqiao International Service Business Park held a conference to research and discuss the functional position and advancing procedures for the cross-Straits trade cooperation center.

The meeting confirmed its four functional sections, as a trade center for Taiwanese commodities, an expo center for Taiwanese commodities, a logistics and delivery center and a service center.

As to the advancing procedures, Huaqiao plans to avail itself of all available resources to build the storage, trade and expo centers which are expected to break ground this year.

Other issues discussed over the conference included the operation mechanics, organization structure, policy interpretation and recent activities. The preparation for the investment invitation of economy and trade, which will be held this autumn, was also discussed.

The Director of the managing committee of Huaqiao economic development zone Ren Xueyuan attended the conference and delivered a speech. According to him, the cross-Straits trade cooperation center, over which the officials from the provincial and national governments are greatly concerned, is the key issue for now. Huaqiao should take every effort in making contributions to the rapid development and efficient construction of the trade cooperation center.

Other attendees included vice directors of the managing committee of Huaqiao economic development zone Shen Huafei, Zhang Jianwen, Tang Naixin and Cheng Wenrong.
