During the field investigation meeting on Nov 7, Mayor Lu Jun required Huaqiao to build up the service brand, maintain core competitive strength, improve the city's functions and promote economic developments of Kunshan.

In this year, Huaqiao Economic Development Zone has introduced more than 120 large service projects, which include projects of CDP Group Ltd, Hanting regional headquarters, Soochow Innovative Capital Management Co Ltd and more. With newly received foreign investments of $306.7 million, a 39.4 percent increase year-on-year, and newly received civilian investment of 3.34 billion yuan ($536.1 million), a 31.4 percent increase year-on-year, Huaqiao has realized added value of service industry of 7.5 billion yuan, a 41.7 percent increase from the last year. And the proportion of its added value of tertiary industry to GDP is 66.8 percent, increasing 7 percents from 2011.

Lu said, “Kunshan government will continue to support Huaqiao. Huaqiao must deal with the integral development relationship with Shanghai, and balance relationships between output effects and industry scale, and land utilization and land output.”
