The contract on Hydropower cascade development of Chilik River is worth more than $700m

According to China Gezhouba Group Co, the company and Xinjiang International Economic Cooperation Co established a joint venture on Feb 9, 2010, with the former as the principal part.

The joint venture signed the Contract Agreement of Cascade Hydropower Project on Chilik River with Kazakhstan Natural Gas Technology Co. Since new items were added into the contract as required by the client, the value of the contract increased from the original $580 million to the present $ 727,775,047.

It is planned to construct a 6-level cascade hydropower station with the total installed capacity of 254,000 kilowatts. As an EPC project, it covers the design of pivot structure, equipment supply, civil works, and the embedment of lines for electricity transmission and transformation between the plant and the switch station and from the switch station to the regional grid.
